This study compares the tensile strength of natural fiber composites (Bambusa vulgaris bamboo) versus synthetic fiberglass composites for potential use in Grob TP 120 aircraft applications. Both composite types were manufactured using press molding with 60% epoxy resin and 40% reinforcing fiber, then tested according to ASTM D3039 standards. Results showed fiberglass composites achieved superior average tensile strength (11,263.55 N) compared to bamboo composites (7,689.21 N). However, bamboo-based composites offered advantages in lower density, environmental sustainability, and production cost-effectiveness. The findings suggest that while fiberglass remains superior for high-strength requirements, Bambusa vulgaris presents a viable eco-friendly alternative for lightweight, non-structural or secondary components in aircraft applications, contributing to sustainable composite material development in aeronautics.
