Abstract

A student is declared to have completed their education if they have finished their final project (FP), which is a scientific work prepared by the student under the guidance of a lecturer as a requirement for graduation (KBBI Online). The preparation of the FP can proceed more smoothly and easily if the student has a good command of language skills. Before reaching the writing stage, students need to engage in extensive reading first. This study aims to determine the relationship between reading comprehension ability and learning motivation with the skill of writing the final project in the Advanced Academy Student Officers (Pasis Aklan) at AAU. Learning motivation data were collected using a questionnaire technique, while data on reading comprehension ability and final project writing skills were obtained based on test scores. This study used a sample of 70 Pasis AAU students.

The research results indicate that reading comprehension skills are significantly related to final project writing skills, with a correlation value of 0.81, which is considered very strong, contributing 65.32%, while the remaining 34.68% is determined by other factors. Learning motivation is significantly related to final project writing skills, with an influence based on the correlation value of 0.71, considered strong, contributing 50.41%, while the remaining 49.59% is determined by other factors. Reading comprehension skills and learning motivation together are significantly related to final project writing skills, with a correlation value of 0.87, considered very strong, contributing 75.69%, while the remaining 24.31% is determined by other factors. Thus, this study demonstrates that there is a significant relationship between reading comprehension ability and learning motivation both individually and jointly in relation to final assignment writing skills.
